After the extended drought followed by the devastating bush fires that engulfed parts of the wine growing districts of the Hunter Valley, vast numbers of local vineyards were unable to produce any wine this vintage. We are fortunate to have been able to produce a small volume of excellent Semillon that is fresh and fruity and quite delicious.
"Pale straw in colour, this young semillon is fairly neutral at first, but it evolves in the glass. Light sunlight soap and lanolin notes mix it with citrus pith and apple on the nose, classically Hunter, and the palate continues the theme in an understated way. It's clean, dry and fairly simple in the mouth now, but it really needs age to build interest, there's real potential there".
90/100 (Silver) - Ralph Kyte-Powell, The Real Review
"This is a good wine in light of the challenges of the vintage. A single Lovedale site. Tropical canned fruit scents mesh with apricot pith and lanolin. Round and easygoing for the genre. A stream of tangy citric acidity across the finish gives perk and solid length. I would drink this on the earlier side".
