deCapel Wines is a boutique, family-run vineyard producing Hunter Valley classic varieties - Semillon, Shiraz, Chardonnay, Rose, as well as a Sparkling Semillon Verdelho. Originally hand planted in 2008, we are now enjoying over a decade of making excellent, award-winning wines. Every vintage we hand pick our grapes with a team of family and friends ensuring the best possible quality and integrity of fruit. Our wines are enjoying excellent reviews from top critics and the deCapel vineyard recently received a 4 star Halliday 2025 Wine Companion rating.

Not only are we a small boutique winery that will offer one of the most personal experiences in the Hunter but our entire branding is inspired by our family history. You'll see this image translated across our range of wines, adding our personal touch to every bottle. The photo of our daughters and horses galloping together expresses a sense of freedom and joy that we experience every day here at our Lovedale property and vineyard.
With the help of family and friends, in 2008 we started planting our vineyard out of pastures that were once used for dairy farming and now we are successfully producing award winning wines.
Not only have we grown our vineyard from the soil up, we've also planted over 3000 trees and shrubs throughout our property and continue to keep planting as the years go on. This revegetation over the years has provided habitat for local animals and birds, including the endangered Swift Parrot and Regent Honeyeater, and is restoring our land to the open woodland forest it once was.
